Madam President Anzhane Slaughter

The Young Realtist Division was established in 1996 and re-established in 2018, with the new headquarters now being based out of Atlanta, Ga. The Young Realtist Division of NAREB’s mission is to empower our youth and communities through financial education, wealth building, career exposure, mentorship, professional development and leadership training.

Why Organized?

NAREB YRD was organized to assist NAREB in membership recruitment and development through their efforts to:

  • Provide information and encourage college students to join the real estate industry
  • Provide membership orientation to new members
  • Encourage participation in all conference events
  • Make referrals to other affiliates

The "Young" Meaning

The “Young” in YRD has multiple meanings:

  • The young in YRD is for members with less than 5 years as a member,
  • new professionals with less than 5 years as an agent
  • or anyone who is young at heart and has a passion in redefining the real estate industry for tomorrow's leader.

Distinct Advisory Committee

We consider everyone that’s passionate about the empowerment of the youth, the next generation, and values the growth of the NAREB organization in general to be a part of our distinct advisory committee within our membership, regardless of age. Our advisory committee have been members of NAREB or in the industry for a minimum of 10 years.

Meet Anzhane Slaughter, YRD President

Anzhane Slaughter is a natural born advocate for the African American community. At 26 years old, Anzhane is the youngest Board Member at African American Leadership Foundation. She first put her community at the epicenter of her work in 2012 with her fight for education reform within Seattle Public Schools. Her devotion and leadership towards social justice and equity carried throughout her educational career as she obtained a degree in law from the University of Washington.

Throughout her research, Anzhane found that in order for the African American community to achieve true liberation one must be free financially. She quickly applied this learning to her life and in 2018 passed the Real Estate Exam in Washington state to help bring financial freedom, stability and generational wealth to her community. Since then, Anzhane has helped many black families reach homeownership, held prominent positions within the social justice community, secured government contracts for Minority Owned Businesses, managed political campaigns for State Legislatures and continuously uplifting other young leaders through financial and civic literacy.

"I joined YRD because I know how important support and community are for new real estate professionals when building a sustainable career in this industry. There’s no doubt about it, Real estate is a predominantly white industry. If we want to increase representation in this field, it begins with support and its continued through community. "
